Last week, I provided a vacation budgeting sheet but today I am sharing 15 ways you can make money. Whether as a side hustle or an additional stream of income, you can eventually turn one of these ideas into a full time job. So, let’s take a look at the list!
- FaceBook Marketplace | You can sell anything on this marketplace, from furniture, clothes, electronics, kitchen appliances and more. To get started, I recommend going to the second hand store, buy a piece of furniture that is in good condition, list it and sell it for more than you paid for.
For example: If you spent $20 on a chair, sell it for $30-$40.
- Digital products | If you are knowledgeable about a certain topic or niche, like art, cooking, or nursing, then sell digital products that either teach or provide solutions. Such as planners, journals, cheat sheets/guides, ebooks, and more. Then list them on either Etsy, your website or social media.
- Blogging | Blogging is fun, you can write about traveling, health, beauty, finance or anything you find interesting. Your income can come from ads, affiliate marketing, selling physical products/digital products in your online stores, or from brand collaborations too.
- Writing | Every business needs a writer. Don’t let A.I scare you away, brands still need reliable sources and authenticity. For instance, you can offer ghostwriting or copywriting services to brands. Or, you can write essays for college students but you didn’t hear that for me. Or you can write a book, script, or screenplays. The possibilities are endless.
- Cleaning | Most people are either too lazy or busy when it comes to cleaning. However, if you don’t mind organizing or cleaning spaces, offer it as a service. Better yet, create the business and hire staff to do the cleaning. I heard about a woman creating a mobile laundry mat and I think it’s genius! Take a look here
- Driving | If you have extra time on your hands, why not make a few bucks driving? Apply to be a driver on an Uber, Lyft or a Cab company and provide the services.
- Grocery shopping | Don’t like strangers sitting in the back of your car? Maybe picking up their groceries and dropping them off would be easier to do. Just shop their groceries and leave it at their door steps/hand it to them. You don’t need to talk to anyone. You can even create your own business by starting in your neighborhood. Target senior citizens, stay at home moms, or busy entrepreneurs and provide a simple list like must-haves (eggs, milk, bread, etc.). Do this every two weeks and you may even make tips on top of that!
- Content creation | Content creation is still on the rise, a lot of companies want to see your digital footprint. So, start posting consistently on social media about a certain niche or make UGC content and get paid from those platforms like Tiktok. You can even get brand deals, collaborations, or full-time opportunities depending on the niche you focus on and the information you provide.
- Sell used clothes | This is similar to the selling furniture idea but this time instead of selling on Facebook Marketplace, you should list on platforms like Depop! I did this before when I was younger and it was great. I sold tops that were in good condition and jewelry too.
- Pet sitting | Pet’s require movement more than once a day, it’s a major commitment. However, this can be difficult for owners who are busy or tired. So, why not help them out by walking their dog/s? Charge them a fee either for morning walks and/or evenings.
- Website designing | There are tons of YouTube videos that teach you how to design websites using drag and drop features like on Wix and Canva. You can provide your service to small businesses and individuals who may want a landing page or portfolio website starting at $500 or more!
- Rent your decorations | When I worked at an event space, I rented marquee numbers from vendors for birthday parties. This is a great gig because there are birthday parties every day. To get marquee signs, you either invest in a few like “16”, “PROM”, “21”, or numbers 0-9. Or you can make them yourself, there are YouTube videos that teach you how to build your own. And then you can market yourself either word of mouth or on social media and Facebook market place.
- Balloon decorating | People use balloons for everything; corporate events, birthday parties, weddings, engagement parties, grand openings and more! Purchase good quality balloons, not the cheap ones on Amazon, learn simple design on YouTube, upload pictures on social media or share them with friends and family, and boom, make $100+ 1-2 hours of work (depending on your skill and design).
- Tutor | Skillful in English, math, or science? Know how to speak another language? Tutor students or even adults in preparation for exams, to strengthen their skills, or just for fun. You can do this online or offer your services at afterschool programs and create your own hours and pay.
- Airbnb | Do you move around often? Or own a commercial space? Why not rent it out? You can list your space on platforms like Airbnb, Peerspace, or Gigster, and let people rent it for a certain amount of time and get paid for it. Whether it’s for lodging, events, or filmmaking, people are always renting spaces. To make your life easier hire cleaners to disinfectant and refresh the space so you don’t have too.
Okay, this was fun to do and it even inspired me. Something to remember when getting started is being consistent, having patience and putting yourself out there. Closed mouths don’t get fed and just because it takes a while to get a yes, doesn’t mean it won’t come, just remain resilient. There is enough money in the world to go around, no matter how populated a niche is, it’s you that people are looking for, so go get what your deserve!
